Product Overview

Stratford Ceiling Tiles are cost-effective, easy-to-use, and by far our best-selling style. Made from our Feather-Light Series 0.013 in. thick vinyl plastic, they are unlike any ceiling tile you will ever see or feel. You may be surprised by their minimal weight, but their thermoformed design combined with the inherent strength of vinyl makes these tiles rigid, durable, and easy to install and maintain.

The “lume” in Ceilume stands for ILLUMINATION, and with our Transluminous™ Ceiling Tiles we give you three unique ways to let the light shine in, whether you want localized lighting effects or a fully illuminated ceiling. Our frosted material has no pigment, allowing greater light transmittance than translucent, yet still providing some light diffusion. Place tiles directly beneath lighting fixtures in traditional interiors, or throughout the entirety of your installation for a fully-illuminated ceiling effect.

All of our Feather-Light Series tiles are Class A fire rated, 100% recyclable, completely waterproof, Greenguard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, and made in the USA. For the look of plaster or tin, with the flexibility, durability, and versatility of vinyl - look no further!

I’m looking to install this on my deck 21x14 what all do I did to do this job?

Asked by: Bill2021
Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles can only be installed in a standard 1" or 15/16" suspended ceiling grid. While we've done extensive testing for interior installation, we have not done any testing for exterior installations of the Stratford. These tiles carry the following note on our website: "Warning: Not recommended for installation where ceiling temperatures exceed 120°F" Because of that warning, the Stratford might not be the best choice for your location. Please give us a call at 800-557-0654 if you have any other questions.

Are the Stratford tiles sold in Home Depot the same as the ones on your website or do you manufacture a less expensive version for them? According to the specs it seems that theirs is thinner.

Asked by: Bert27
The Stratford 2x2 tiles sold at and in Home Depot stores are the same tiles that we sell on our website. The Stratford is made from a rigid vinyl that is .013" thick, about the thickness of a good business card. They get their rigidity from their geometric shape and since they don't absorb moisture or humidity, they won't sag over time like the old mineral fiber tiles. The retail pricing at Home Depot stores will match our retail pricing shortly.

Can I put this in the bathrooms where there’s steam?

Asked by: Carolyn22
All of Ceilume's ceiling tiles are made from a thin rigid vinyl that is impervious to moisture. They are unaffected by steam or humidity so they're a great choice for installation in bathrooms.

We installed these in our club, but are getting alot of complaints about the echoing . How can we reduce that. We left our old ceiling tiles in and put these under them

Asked by: Tommy
Stratford Ceiling Tiles have an NRC of .25. Because they are relatively thin, they allow sound to pass through them instead of reflecting the noise. Once sound passes through them, it should be absorbed by whatever material is behind them. If you've left your old ceiling in place, then there should be very little difference in sound within the space. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to discuss what other changes you may have made that are effecting the sound within the space.

can I imply tape to the back of the ceiling piece?

Asked by: tyrese
Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles are made to be installed in a standard 1" or 15/16" ceiling grid. They can't be taped or glued directly to a ceiling. While Ceilume does make a variety of tiles that can be glued to a ceiling ( ) we don't recommend installing any tiles with tape.

Could these be used as a kitchen backsplash? Behind a stove.

Asked by: Laura A
Ceilume's Stratford Ceiling Tile can only be installed in a 1" or 15/16" suspended ceiling grid. They can not be directly adhered to a ceiling or wall. We do have 3 styles of glue-up wall and ceiling tiles: These tiles are only suitable for use behind a stove or cook top if there is a control panel at the back of the stove to protect the tiles from the direct heat of the burners. Please call Ceilume at 800-557-0654 with any questions. We're here Monday - Friday from 6:30 am - 4:30 pm PST.

Is it still possible to get a box of 10 or 15 tiles?

Asked by: Christine
Because Ceilume offers 42 different ceiling tile styles in up to 16 different colors and finishes, we don't keep any tiles in stock. Each order is custom made once the order is received and there is a minimum order size of 25 tiles. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to discuss options for purchasing fewer than 25 tiles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful panels! My contractor, hubby and I all love the beauty of the Stratford ceiling panels. They brighten up my dark dingy basement and updates the ceiling. We installed these panels directly over existing fiber ceiling tiles for added sturdiness. ****I give 4 stars because of how thin and pliable the product is. If these were a few millimeters thicker I'd feel comfortable leaving them as stand alones, but due to it's flimsiness, these work best as covers to the old-school tiles which provide more stability.****

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great company to deal with and gorgeous product I purchased the tiles and installed them myself on an existing grid. I’m a 40 something year old woman and did the whole project with the help of my 12 year old daughter in about a day. It’s super easy to cut especially if you can trace the old tiles. The ceiling looks awesome - such an improvement over the dated old tiles. Also- my highest regards to the company. I had a shipping delay due to high shipping volume around Christmas. It was the fault of fed-ex not Ceilume. They were so helpful and even offered to ship out new tiles due to the delay. Very nice and helpful people. I highly recommend this product. Super easy, super gorgeous and super great company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've never installed ceiling tiles so easily as with these tiles, nor have I managed it on my own before. Granted, I was replacing my old tiles so I didn't have to rehang the grid. A ladder, pair of scissors, measuring tape and a marker was all I needed. I had no problems cutting the circle to affix the louver but I thought of my fabric circle cutter. I did try that - it will cut up to a 12" circle. That sliced through the tile with no problem and I will be using it to do the rest of my installation (I still have another 1500 sq ft +/- to go). I have also been impressed with the durability and strength of the tiles. They look great and gave my room a major facelift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ceiling is finished and we love it. I raise Bengal cats and the tiles were used in two kitten rooms in our basement. The rooms look great. This is only the second dropped ceiling my brother has installed and he had no trouble at all. He liked working with the Ceilume tiles over conventional tiles. We didn't lose much ceiling height due to the thinness of the tiles. My uncle and cousin used the same tiles when finishing their basements and told me about them. I'm so glad they did. On a scale from 1-5 I give them a 10! Thanks for this super product. Can't wait until the entire project is finished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love our new ceiling! One thing I have never liked when we bought our home 15 years ago was the ugly, outdated drop ceiling in a room that was originally a screen porch but later enclosed with windows by a previous owner. These Stratford ceiling tiles have completely updated and upgraded the look of the room! I love our new ceiling! My husband said they were easier than expected to install. We kept the old tiles and installed these over them because we needed the insulation the old ones provided. We had an issue with our original shipment - all the tiles in one box were damaged. Customer service was incredible and they got it taken care of very quickly. Very happy with how this project turned out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy install, looks great I bought these to update a stained, ugly drop ceiling In our bedroom. Installation was very easy and quick. (I did color match some paint to the panels and painted the grid first). To make the panels a little sturdier, I took the old panels and flipped them upside down (over the years they had begun to sag). I then installed the new panels on top of the old. It added a little stability (these are pretty flimsy) and a sound barrier (I was too cheap to buy the sound panels). I initially thought it would squish and denr the new panels but I did it carefully and was able to remove any dents that occurred. Cutting them to fit the edges was no problem with a scissors. Keeping the old ones so I could cut them to the same size saved me time. Some folks mentioned problems with the panels when opening and closing doors. The added weight of the old panels on top has made this a non issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Upgrade Was happy I was able to order directly from the company. Ceiling tiles are as described very easy to install. Was able to cut tiles with scissors which simplified the project and was able to complete without assistance. I was replacing insulated acoustic tile which I left in place. They lay perfectly on top of new tiles working a insulation. The new ceiling looks beautiful. The appearance is decorative and almost looks like wood. I am very pleased with this product. The look and the ease of installation and would certainly recommend this product and would order from Ceilume again for another project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We are currently waiting for a fire alarm and (2) 6 inch can lights to be installed and wired in. After that she'll be done. We love the ceiling, simple, elegant, and a truly fast and clean installation. As soon as I get it done I will send pictures of the install. We have turned 400+ square feet of basement into a master bedroom and bath that now has hotel like qualities due to the fact that the ceiling looks so great. I will however recommend to anyone that if they go with the white tiles to purchase the white grid tape to match. My order for tape will be coming in soon. We are extremely happy!
