What is the matching color for the bars?

Asked by: Johnny
Because Ceilume's "Random Gray" material is made from 100% post-manufacturing scrap, the color (while always some shade of gray) is truly random as it is determined by the material that is recycled. The color tends to be a light "charcoal", but it can shift from dark to light, from batch to batch, and even within a single order, ensuring your ceiling will be unlike any other. When installing Random Gray tiles, it's best to paint the ceiling grid a complimentary color rather than trying to exactly paint match just one of the tiles. We've seen great installations using black, dark grey, and dark maroon but your final paint selection should work with the other colors in your space. Give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to request a free sample of this tile so you can get a feel for the general shade of the Random Gray material. We're here Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm PST.

Can these be cut out to add lights

Asked by: Brenda
Yes, the Serenity and many other Ceilume ceiling tiles, are suitable for use with recessed lighting. Cutting the tiles is a snap: use the light trim ring as a template and cut the ceiling tile with a good pair of scissors or a pair of straight bladed snips. Please remember that the International Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. Ceiling tiles should not be used to support recessed lighting. There are a variety of can light housings and LED light brackets that can be used to support your light of choice. Please contact Ceilume at 800-557-0654 to discuss installation methods if you're planning to use LED lights in your ceiling.

Do these panels take paint? If so what type works best on them?

Asked by: Pete
All of our ceiling tiles (and decorative strips) can be painted right out of the box or after you install them. A couple of notes: 1) Painting voids all fire ratings and approvals. 2) Always paint-match the actual products that you are planning on installing. 3) Do not use solvent-type thinners and cleaners. 4) Use an acrylic latex paint or a paint specifically made for vinly materials. If you have any other questions, please give us a call at 800-557-0654. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST.

We are redoing basement ceiling - are these suggested for outer edges? We bought your Madison Tile but realized we should do a flat surface for edges

Asked by: LAC
The Serenity is one of the more popular tiles for use with the Madison Coffered tile. It's flat design cuts easily and lays flat in the grid for those partial tiles at the perimeter of the ceiling. You can also use the Oxford tile if you'd like to keep the "square within a square" pattern throughout the space. Give us a call at 800-557-0654 with any other questions. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST.

Is Serenity a tegular edge or a square edge panel?

Asked by: Meghan1
The Serenity tile is a square edge tile that sits flush in the ceiling grid without projecting downwards. This allows the tile to sit properly in a ceiling grid, even when cut down from its full 2' x 2' size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design feature Great product with excellent design detail. I was able to keep the installation 3 inches from the existing ceiling in my living room which still gave me plenty of ceiling height.
