Product Overview

Florentine Ceiling Tiles boldly recreate the feel and depth of historic plaster ceilings.

Florentine Ceiling Tiles boldly recreate the feel and depth of historic plaster ceilings. Made from our Feather-Light Series 0.013 in. thick vinyl plastic, they are unlike any ceiling tile you will ever see or feel. You may be surprised by their minimal weight, but their thermoformed design combined with the inherent strength of vinyl makes these tiles rigid, durable, and easy to install and maintain.

All of our Feather-Light Series tiles are Class A fire rated, 100% recyclable, completely waterproof, Greenguard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, and made in the USA. For the look of plaster or tin, with the flexibility, durability, and versatility of vinyl - look no further!

How do I install my light fixtures with this pattern?

Asked by: Sheila
The Florentine ceiling tile is a reproduction of a plaster cast ceiling from the 1800's and was in use long before the invention of recessed ceiling lights. Since its ornate design does not provide a flat surface for the installation of recessed lighting, folks use one of our low relief "border tiles" for any spaces that require the installation of a recessed light. You can view those styles at the following link: https://www.ceilume.com/products/drop/border/2x2/white-ceiling-tiles/ If you have any questions, please call Ceilume at 800-557-0654. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST.

Can these tiles be painted? Can they be used as backsplash or integrated as half wall in say a foyer?

Asked by: Geri12
Ceilume's Florentine ceiling tile is only suitable for installation in a standard 1" or 15/16" ceiling grid. It can't be glued to a ceiling or wall. Copy and Paste the following link into your browser to view all of the Ceilume ceiling tiles that can be glued to a ceiling or wall: https://www.ceilume.com/products/glue-up/white-ceiling-tiles/ All of Ceilume's ceiling tiles (and decorative strips) can be painted right out of the box or after you install them. A couple of notes: 1) Painting voids all fire ratings and approvals 2) Always paint-match the actual products that you are planning on installing 3) Do not use solvent-type thinners and cleaners

What makes this ceiling tile look like there's a light bulb behind it? It looks like it glows. Why are there not more colors?

Asked by: Cher
Ceilume's Florentine ceiling tile is available in 9 separate colors/finishes; the standard colors are White, Sand, Stone, Latte, Merlot, and Black and the Transluminous finishes. You can view all of the colors by clicking on the down arrow in the color section of the Florentine's product page. The Translucent tile that you'd inquired about gets it's "glow" from the light bulb behind it. The Transluminous finishes (Translucent, Frosted, and Clear) let through varying degrees of light so you can control the brightness of your space. See the photo below for a description of the different levels of light transmittance.

Are these tiles translucent?

Asked by: Kris
Ceilume's Florentine ceiling tile is available in a Translucent finish as well as the following colors/finishes: White, Sand, Merlot, Latte, Stone, Black, Frosted, and Clear. See the photo below for information on the levels of light transmittance for the Translucent, Frosted, and Clear finishes. Please give us a call at 800-557-0654 to request a free full-sized sample to make sure the Translucent finish is right for your project.

If there’s a fluorescent light behind the “latte“ ceiling tile, will the light come through?

Asked by: RPR
If there is a light source above the Latte (or any of Ceilume's opaque ceiling colors/finishes) you would be able to see some light coming through. The amount of light would vary based on the brightness of the light source and how close that light was to the ceiling tile. Ceilume does not recommend illuminating a Latte ceiling with lights above. We offer 3 different finishes of Transluminous ceiling tiles: Translucent, Frosted, and Clear. You can learn more about these finishes by copying/pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.ceilume.com/pro/lighting.cfm
