Product Overview

Southland Ceiling Panels have long, smooth channels that add interest without inundating. Made from our Feather-Light Series 0.013 in. thick vinyl plastic, they are unlike any ceiling panels you will ever see or feel. You may be surprised by their minimal weight, but their thermoformed design combined with the inherent strength of vinyl makes these tiles rigid, durable, and easy to install and maintain.

The “lume” in Ceilume stands for ILLUMINATION, and with our Transluminous™ Ceiling Tiles we give you three unique ways to let the light shine in, whether you want localized lighting effects or a fully illuminated ceiling. Our clear material is just that. Without pigment or surface texture it allows maximum light transmittance. It passes light like a window pane, but because of our manufacturing process it lacks window clarity, causing some cosmetic imperfections and witness lines to be visible. Place tiles directly beneath lighting fixtures in traditional interiors, or throughout the entirety of your installation for a fully-illuminated ceiling effect.

All of our Feather-Light Series panels are Class A fire rated, 100% recyclable, completely waterproof, Greenguard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, and made in the USA. For the look of plaster or tin, with the flexibility, durability, and versatility of vinyl - look no further!

Can these be easily cut to fit to replace our current 24x42 in ceiling panels

Asked by: Lauriewpan
Yes, Ceilume's Southland ceiling panels can easily be cut using a pair of scissors or a pair of straight bladed snips, The design of the Southland does not project down below the ceiling grid so it will sit flush in the grid even when cut down from its full size.

Do these 2x2 grid ceiling tiles have R-value

Asked by: weasel
The Souhtland , and all Feather-Light Ceilume ceiling tiles, are made from a thin rigid vinyl and the R-Value is only 0.012. Adding the Soniguard Drop Ceiling insulation brings the R-Value up to 6.

Can you cut holes in the tiles for speakers and sprinklers? Is this difficult to achieve a clean cut with the protrusions

Asked by: CMoore
You can cut the Southland with the same hole saw that you'd use to cut a mineral fiber tile. The trick is to run the hole saw in reverse which allows the teeth cut smoothly through the vinyl. You can also use a good pair of scissors or a pair of straight bladed aviation snips. We recommend that you do not use a utility knife as the blade could slip on the smooth vinyl and cause injury.

Can the ceiling tiles be stapled or glued directly to an existing drywall ceiling in a covered outdoor patio?

Asked by: dduroure
The Ceilume Southland tiles (and all of the Feather-Light tiles) can not be glued or stapled to a drywall ceiling. On the back side of each tile there is a lip around the perimeter of the tile to give them structural rigidity. That lip and the thinness of the tile make them perfect for installation in a ceiling grid. For a glue up installation, take a look at our Glue-Up tile selection. All of those tiles have a flat back and are made of our thicker Signature material which makes them perfect for glue-up installations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Special Fabrication The tiles were integrated into an alumunium grid that formed an enclosure to a large air handler. The fabrication went well, and the result is a low weight enclosure that is artitectually appealing and complementary to the Southland Ceiling tiles in the surrounding area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Great We're constructing a boathouse on the South Shore of MA and wanted the ceiling to reflect a boat-building atmosphere. The Southland White ceiling tile reminded us of lapstrake boat construction. It looks great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Asthetically they are nice the tiles reveals wood Nice tiles just really light weight and thin the won't support sprinklers, or lighting, cameras i.plaxe them in an entrance area in a ceiling cloud and on windy days it blows them out of place.
