The installation is in a 20' x 22' indoor spa area. I used 24" x 24" white Ceilume Petal Ceiling Tiles and HG-Grid Vinyl Suspension System from Acoustic Ceiling Products. For the edge pieces, I used painted drywall. I selected Ceilume tiles and the HG-Grid system because of the humidity in the spa area. The grid system was slightly more difficult to install than a metal system since the pieces did not snap together as easily as metal and the plastic was much more flexible and harder to keep in place. The tiles dropped right in without a problem. The only problem I had was that I did not realize that the Petal tiles are directional so I had completed a section before noticing that the tiles should be oriented in a specific pattern. See the pictures of my kitchen that I used your tiles in. What a transformation!!! The product was very very easy to use and very easy to cut and install. I just traced out the old tiles onto the new and took my scissors and cut to fit. The whole kitchen took me about 2 hours. Very few times am I so happy with a product that I take the time to write to thank a company for it. As you can see by my photos this was a smaller project in the basement of my home. I needed the tile almost tight to the beam and air ducts to make a drop ceiling work. I knew the normal tile was not flexible enough to do this with and did not want to cover the plumbing and wiring in the house with drywall. This was my reason for the search for a better tile. I could not be happier with my find. as you can see I mounted cans and did lights behind the tile by the TV to reduce glare on the screen. I found the tile easy to cut, flexible enough to fit in very tight spaces and far less messy than the old kind of tile. Even as an environmental aspect I had far less waste at the end of the project and the leftover tile takes very little space to store. Even the directions on line helped as it has been about 20 years since I installed my last ceiling. Also the service was great. I ordered right before a holiday and received an e-mail explaining the slight delay, now that is service! Thanks for a great product, and service.

I just finished my installation of your Ceilume Ceiling Tiles in my media room and the results are stunning! I was originally looking for an alternative to conventional ceiling tiles in terms of design and cost. I was looking at tin ceilings, but was put off by the cost. I am always a bit skeptical when dealing with new products, but I ordered your free samples and read as much as I could online about the Ceilume products. The price advantage is what really hooked me, so I decided to try Ceilume and ordered 100 tiles. The installation couldn't have been easier. I have dealt with standard ceiling tiles before and remember the dust involved when cutting holes or trimming them to size. With the Ceilume tiles there was no dust and I was able to cut 2 or 3 at a time with a pair of scissors! This was a big time saver. Once my tiles were in place, I sprayed the entire ceiling the same color as my walls. This made the ceiling grid blend in completely with the tiles so they are almost invisible. I was originally worried that the tiles might move when a door was opened or closed, but it has never happened. After the ceiling was complete I trimmed the room with crown molding, which appears to support the ceiling at the wall. Everyone who has seen the finished room comments about the ceiling. For many reasons that include price, ease of installation, lack of dust, and design options, I am very pleased with my decision to go with Ceilume ceiling tiles. Thanks for doing what you do and it has been a pleasure doing business with you!

We initially installed Armstrong ceiling tiles in our renovated basement in November '06 (according to manufacturer's installation instructions) and didn't have a problem until the beginning of June '07 when we had some humid weather. The basement started to have a horrible smell and we thought maybe something died. We cleaned everything including rugs, sofa, etc., and two weeks later we discovered it was the ceiling tiles. We took them all out and the smell disappeared. That's when I discovered Ceilume and we are all so happy, wish we had gone that way from the get go. They have been in all summer, which included a period of very hot, very humid weather, and we have had no further problems. We can now enjoy our 1890 Brunswick Starburst League pool table. First of all, I called the Ceilume company one evening after hours and happened to get an owner of the company on the phone. Such luck. I wanted a tile in the color sand, that was, according to the website, available only in white. He was so helpful, answering all of my questions and actually guided me toward a tile that was more border-appropriate than the one I'd chosen. He sent some pics to me of rooms that featured the tile I wanted. Thanks to Ed Davis! As for the product, I can't say enough good things about the Ceilume tiles. I ordered both white and sand samples tiles. I didn't love the white. Packaging was excellent. Shipment reasonable because they're lightweight. My husband was initially a skeptic about the tiles, relenting only because I told him I could install them without his help. He deemed them "flimsy" tiles, but conceded that the project was a success after completion. Unless you're in-the-know you can't tell that they aren't heavy tiles. I painted my existing ceiling grid with paint mixed to match the tiles, applying with a sponge paintbrush, and then did the entire installation (very simple) by myself in just about 3 hours. (using pre-existing grid) Where the cut, notched portion of the Electra border tiles meet the wall, just above the ceiling grid, there were unfinished spaces . My son came up with a plan for those unfinished spaces. I cut small pieces out of border-tile scraps and laid them between the tile and the wall where the notches are, hiding the wall. It was easy and gives the uniform appearance I was looking for. Also, I loved the Medallion tiles but thought that they were too busy for a 13x13 room so I opted to use them as an accent instead. I even used, as a wall hanging, the Florentine tile that I'd ordered as a sample. I painted it, cut the edge off, and hung it using some braided leather. It looks like those expensive wall hangings that you'd see in a Ballard Designs catalog. Needless to say, I'm a satisfied Ceilume customer.

Also, we had some duct work that was just above the level of the grid, and the flexibility of the Ceilume panels was great, because I could bend the panels a little bit to squeeze them up into the grid without requiring any clearance at all. As soon as they were above the grid, they snapped back into shape, and you can't tell at all that the ducts are right above them. We still haven't decided whether we are going to leave the grid white, or paint it to match the latte panels.

We went with the Ceiling Link grid system. I know this is not your product, but I thought I'd just share that next time I would go with one that locks together. If I accidentally pushed too hard on the tile I was putting in, the whole row would shift, and I'd have to go back to the beginning and reset them all. Not a huge problem, but annoying when it did happen. As far as your product.... The tiles were sooo easy to paint. I loved them. I ended up not antiquing the Stratford ones like I had planned to do because the antiqued ones seemed too dark, and looked dirty once they were up. So, I painted the Stratford ceiling tiles a Crème Brulee cream color (one coat). These went in the bulk of the basement... den, office, library, hallway, storage room, and bathroom. The trim in these rooms was also painted that color, and they look great together. Rather than use the edge pieces of the grid, the top trim pieces actually hold the tiles up along the edges. The Orb pattern is in our boys' bedroom. I painted those the same light blue that is on the upper third of their walls (2 coats). They look great! As far as installation. It was even easier than I expected to cut the holes out for vents and lights. The material is very easy to work with. The only issue I had was with the Orb pattern. The problem may have been caused by us making the grid pieces fit a little too tightly in places. If a tile was pushed up in a corner out of the grid, I could get a grip on the Stratford tile to pull it back down into place, but the Orb pattern had nothing to grip, so I had to pop the tile beside it out and push it back down, then hope that the one I popped out fell back into place easily. This was not a huge problem, but it did happen often. Again, this may have been due to the grid system we chose not locking into place, allowing the tiles to get pinched tighter than they needed to be. So, overall, we were very pleased with the Ceilume tiles. They were easy to work with, took paint very well, and were easy to put up. They look really great, and we're looking forward to their easy care for many years.

I have been thrilled with the tiles. I can't say enough good things about them. As you can see from the pictures they have been installed in a 3 season room off the back of the house. Living in Wisconsin that room does take a beating from the weather. The problem I had with the old tiles was humidity, sagging tiles and no way to clean them. The ease of installation was unbelievable compared to standard tiles. They are light, easy to handle and just snap in place. Believe me if grandma can do it anyone can. Actually I am very proud of the ceiling I finished myself. This job went so good that I am considering redoing the basement laundry - work room. I am very pleased with the Ceilume tiles. Your tiles replaced an existing 2x4 system that had become warped due to humidity over the years. The replaced tiles were a composite and were the type generally available in large home improvement stores. Ceilume tiles were first noticed on a Food Network show and your company came up in an Internet search. Your website was comprehensive and provided all the information necessary to make a decision. Your offer for the sample tiles made it very easy to make a decision regarding style. When the original ceiling was installed, a perimeter was constructed to account for irregularities in the dimensions of the room. (12' 9" wide) The room also has a bay window. This presented a problem. The old tiles were used as a template to cut the Ceilume tiles to fit these irregular spaces in the grid at the bay window. It took a lot of planning, time and it was tedious. The design I chose was not the easiest to work with. The tiles you offer for these irregular spaces would have made the room look unbalanced. However, the results were worth the effort. The installation of the tiles was unbelievably easy. The old composite tiles chipped and flaked during the initial installation and when they were removed. I took the opportunity to try latex paint on the samples. Again, the results amazed me. It was interesting to note that you now offer colors. Some of the tiles were damaged in transit and your customer service department was very accommodating. I would suggest that someone consider using bubble wrap or Styrofoam to protected the corners of the tile.

My project turned out wonderfully. I installed the medallion tiles and for the perimeter I used a textured wall paper right over the old primed drop ceiling tiles. Like I said, it looks really great. In fact, company that's never seen our ceiling before thought the ceiling was a plaster cast that was actually original to the home (we live in an older house). I left the old existing drop ceiling tiles in place along the outside edge. Where possible, I removed metal brackets that were not part of the ceiling support structure. Then to smooth things out, I used joint compound where metal brackets of the grid touched the old tiles. This way when I put up the wall paper it would not be so obvious where I still had metal brackets. When I feathered out the joint compound between brackets and tiles to my satisfaction, I used a high quality sealer primer (Bin 1-2-3) over all of that. The wall paper was a heavier paper, designed to go over paneling or cracked plaster walls and hide what was beneath it. I don't remember the brand off hand, but I bought that at Menards. For some of my seams, I had to touch things up with a little white caulk, which blended in very nicely. If I look hard or if the lighting is just so, I can see where I have metal brackets behind the wall paper, but it really isn't too noticeable for sure. It might just appear to be a ceiling joist behind plaster to someone who doesn't know - if they can see it at all.

We painted it (Ralph Lauren Polo paint) metallic brown with a sprayer and then used stiff scrub brushes to bring out the metallic colors (we just hand brushed the paint after we sprayed) the ceiling is awesome. We wanted the look of a old tin ceiling in our home theater but it turned out to look a lot like an old plaster or hand carved wood ceiling. We always ask visitors what they think the ceiling is and usually they think it is wood. LOL... Like we could afford that. This was and is an old basement but certainly your product has dressed it up considerably. Believe it or not, we spray painted all the tiles with cans of paint since we could not find a color we liked in large quantity. We used the Rustoleum hammered copper and we really do like it. The name of the color is on the back of the can in very small print. It had the shine we thought we needed. Actually, we did try several other colors before deciding on this particular one. This room has worn many hats through the years but has always been a home theater room... long before home theaters evolved. At the same time it has been an exercise room, wine storage, foos ball and pinball with darts. The children grew up and now it's just wine and movies. Everyone who sees it, has liked it and has planned a use for it. Unfortunately, not everyone takes the time to paint and install so those same guys installing those ugly white perforated ceilings should be talking these up to their customers.
