A drop ceiling installation using Stratford Ceiling Tiles.
Customer Testimonial
I have finished my build and the results turned out quite nicely. The tiles have met our expectations and they offer significant aesthetic improvement vs a traditional "classroom" tile. The pictures of the black Stratford tiles in the theater are installed flush to the ceiling joists with black Ceilinglink grids. The white Stratford tiles in the playroom are installed in regular metal "drop" grids.

We just happen to finish up our project a week ago so your email is timely and I just wanted to say you have great product, it made it so easy to upgrade the look of our theater room project without having to go through too much expense. I was able to reuse our old drop ceiling tiles behind each of your panels to provide additional sound deadening. As you will see on our pictures we painted the ceiling tiles to match the wall color and it was very easy to do with a paint sprayer. I have painted regular ceiling tiles before and it is lots of work. I would definitely recommend your product to others and I would use them again if I have a similar project in the future. Here are some pictures of the project, you can pick the one which you think best shows off your product.

The project came out perfectly!! Although when my husband and I started talking about finishing our basement I was not happy at having to install a drop ceiling, I had no idea products like yours were available. I had visions of the traditional cheap looking ceiling panels you buy at regular home improvement stores. Definitely not what I had envisioned for by basement remodel. I was thrilled when I found your products online. I loved the tiles we chose as they were beautiful and very easy to install. I'm not sure what the cost is compared to the traditional ceilings as I never priced them, but I would gladly pay the amount again to have the project turn out as it did. I thought it was relatively inexpensive and still gave us the convenience of allowing it to be removed if we needed to do any wiring or plumbing maintenance. I would definitely recommend to friends and family that they try these products and most importantly - this company. I called about 4 times before actually purchasing, and each time I got knowledgeable and friendly staff to answer my questions. I was hesitant at first about buying online, but you and your co-workers really put me at ease answering all my questions. The products arrived in excellent condition and right on time. I've sent a few pics - I'm not sure they really do the ceiling justice. Please ignore the decorating as we still have some projects to finish up and the furniture is not arranged properly, baseboard and trim is not completed -- but the ceiling looks beautiful.

I am currently finishing the painting process of the tiles with a Rustoleum hammered copper finish. The bad part of this is the color only comes in spray cans. I could have bought the quart version of paint but would have had to thin in for a sprayer and that would have changed the hammered effect of the paint. The tiles themselves look pretty good. I can send you a photo of a before and after painted tile. I hope to have a grid up in about two weeks and will be able to send you some shots from that part as well before after. I will try to get a before and after shot of a tile or two in a day or so.

It's been a long-time coming but we have finally finished the basement refinishing project for which we ordered the Ceilume Stratford ceiling tiles. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out and already have received many compliments on the ceiling. The tiles were super-easy to cut and install. Installing the tiles goes very quickly - it's installing the grid system that takes time. We actually have 3 different ceiling heights throughout the basement - for two areas we did a true dropped ceiling grid, for the 3rd and largest area we mounted the grid directly to the joists to maximize the ceiling height. Surprisingly the grid looks better in the two areas where it is actually dropped - the grid appears more uniform and the joints line up much more seamlessly than in the area where the grid is mounted to the joists (we assume that is because the bottom of the joists aren't precisely level with each other and those small differences manifest when the grid is mounted and tiles are installed).

Thanks for checking. I really like the panels, they have transformed my kitchen and my dining room. I live in an older house and really hated the drop ceilings, but didn't know how to get rid of them without a major project that would have required significant expense, time and disruption. I installed the Ceilume tile by myself in less than a day for each room!!!

We love the new ceiling. Unfortunately, we did not take any "before" pictures. I guess we didn't want to look at the Celotex and 48" fluorescent lights anymore. I don't know if this will help you, but here are two shots I just made. This is in our basement, which is used quite frequently when family and guests are visiting. The Ceilume was very easy to install, and the panels you advised us to get for the recessed lighting worked perfectly. Thanks for your help.

Our installation is a little unique, stapled/glued directly to the ceiling, cut exactly to the walls and then caulked at the wall. We also painted all of the background surface and left the raised in white. Where the tiles meet, I routed a strip of wood to match the raised design on the tiles. I'll also be putting your tiles in my living area.

I used your ceiling in my rec room last year it turned out great. I reordered for my kitchen, also in the basement. Both rooms are next to each other. I put a wood boarder completely around outside perimeter and hung my angle channel to it. I left three inches exposed and painted black. I used 2x2 black tile around outside and finished with geometric tile in white inside. It turned out great. Best ceiling tile to work with ever. Thanks.

I apologize for waiting for so long to respond to your email. My husband installed the ceiling tiles right away, but I wanted to wait to email you until I got some of my decorating done. I think you will enjoy the pictures with a few of our antiques in place rather than pictures of an empty room. We collect western and saloon antiques so we built a 12 foot by 30 foot saloon to display them. I am very pleased with the Medallion Ceiling Tiles and my husband had no trouble installing them. I was skeptical about putting up plastic ceiling tiles instead of the old fashioned tin tiles, but now that they are in place I cannot tell they are plastic. It was definitely worth the price. Thank you for providing us with a quality product, excellent service and quick delivery.

Your Ceilume ceiling tiles are GREAT! We initially installed Armstrong ceiling tiles in our renovated basement in November '06 (according to manufacturer's installation instructions) and didn't have a problem until the beginning of June '07 when we had some humid weather. The basement started to have a horrible smell and we thought maybe something died. We cleaned everything including rugs, sofa, etc., and two weeks later we discovered it was the ceiling tiles. We took them all out and the smell disappeared. That's when I discovered Ceilume and we are all so happy, wish we had gone that way from the get go. They have been in all summer, which included a period of very hot, very humid weather, and we have had no further problems. We can now enjoy our 1890 Brunswick Starburst League pool table. You also have excellent customer service.

We built a home on the Mississippi River and see barges, Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen and other river traffic. It seemed appropriate to use turn of the century décor for the location, so used the Medallion tile edged with Stratford. I had too many Medallion and not enough Stratford to do the job. You exchanged the tiles with no questions asked. We appreciated working with you. We found the price equivalent to inexpensive big box store low-end tiles, but Ceilume tiles looked like tiles twice the price at the big box stores.

The color is beautiful (cafe au lait?) and I had black strapping put in, so the taupe color with the black and the pattern looks very contemporary. I'll send you pictures, and I'll definitely use your product for the next room that's under construction now.

Installation Description
A drop ceiling installation using Orb Ceiling Tiles, and Stratford Ceiling Tiles.
Customer Testimonial
We went with the Ceiling Link grid system. I know this is not your product, but I thought I'd just share that next time I would go with one that locks together. If I accidentally pushed too hard on the tile I was putting in, the whole row would shift, and I'd have to go back to the beginning and reset them all. Not a huge problem, but annoying when it did happen. As far as your product.... The tiles were sooo easy to paint. I loved them. I ended up not antiquing the Stratford ones like I had planned to do because the antiqued ones seemed too dark, and looked dirty once they were up. So, I painted the Stratford ceiling tiles a Crème Brulee cream color (one coat). These went in the bulk of the basement... den, office, library, hallway, storage room, and bathroom. The trim in these rooms was also painted that color, and they look great together. Rather than use the edge pieces of the grid, the top trim pieces actually hold the tiles up along the edges. The Orb pattern is in our boys' bedroom. I painted those the same light blue that is on the upper third of their walls (2 coats). They look great! As far as installation. It was even easier than I expected to cut the holes out for vents and lights. The material is very easy to work with. The only issue I had was with the Orb pattern. The problem may have been caused by us making the grid pieces fit a little too tightly in places. If a tile was pushed up in a corner out of the grid, I could get a grip on the Stratford tile to pull it back down into place, but the Orb pattern had nothing to grip, so I had to pop the tile beside it out and push it back down, then hope that the one I popped out fell back into place easily. This was not a huge problem, but it did happen often. Again, this may have been due to the grid system we chose not locking into place, allowing the tiles to get pinched tighter than they needed to be. So, overall, we were very pleased with the Ceilume tiles. They were easy to work with, took paint very well, and were easy to put up. They look really great, and we're looking forward to their easy care for many years.
- Pamela B.

I am very pleased with the Ceilume tiles. Your tiles replaced an existing 2x4 system that had become warped due to humidity over the years. The replaced tiles were a composite and were the type generally available in large home improvement stores. Ceilume tiles were first noticed on a Food Network show and your company came up in an Internet search. Your website was comprehensive and provided all the information necessary to make a decision. Your offer for the sample tiles made it very easy to make a decision regarding style. When the original ceiling was installed, a perimeter was constructed to account for irregularities in the dimensions of the room. (12' 9" wide) The room also has a bay window. This presented a problem. The old tiles were used as a template to cut the Ceilume tiles to fit these irregular spaces in the grid at the bay window. It took a lot of planning, time and it was tedious. The design I chose was not the easiest to work with. The tiles you offer for these irregular spaces would have made the room look unbalanced. However, the results were worth the effort. The installation of the tiles was unbelievably easy. The old composite tiles chipped and flaked during the initial installation and when they were removed. I took the opportunity to try latex paint on the samples. Again, the results amazed me. It was interesting to note that you now offer colors. Some of the tiles were damaged in transit and your customer service department was very accommodating. I would suggest that someone consider using bubble wrap or Styrofoam to protected the corners of the tile.

Our project is very much a success! We installed the tiles in our family room which was originally a garage when the house was built in the 1950's. We recently began renovating our basement. The basement was quite dark with wood paneling, recessed lighting, and mineral fiber ceiling tiles. The mineral fiber tiles had been there for a long time and were put there by the previous homeowner. The old tiles were stained, crumbling, and very dusty. We knew that we wanted something different for our ceiling. I had seen the aluminum tiles and thought they were interesting, but much too expensive. When I found your site, my fiance and I were thrilled! Not only are your tiles waterproof, light-weight for easy installation, and a clean white color, they are also environmentally friendly! That sold us - and we told all of our friends. So far, we have repainted our basement, had an electrician install new lights, and of course, put in our new Ceilume tiles. It looks so GREAT! The next step is to have glass brick/block installed as windows. Thank you for such a great, affordable product!

This was and is an old basement but certainly your product has dressed it up considerably. Believe it or not, we spray painted all the tiles with cans of paint since we could not find a color we liked in large quantity. We used the Rustoleum hammered copper and we really do like it. The name of the color is on the back of the can in very small print. It had the shine we thought we needed. Actually, we did try several other colors before deciding on this particular one. This room has worn many hats through the years but has always been a home theater room... long before home theaters evolved. At the same time it has been an exercise room, wine storage, foos ball and pinball with darts. The children grew up and now it's just wine and movies. Everyone who sees it, has liked it and has planned a use for it. Unfortunately, not everyone takes the time to paint and install so those same guys installing those ugly white perforated ceilings should be talking these up to their customers. Your help was invaluable. We so appreciate you. We think you have a wonderful product and hope the best for you. Thanks again for all your help.

I am very pleased with the installation. It really gives my drop ceiling some color and style. First I spray painted all of the tiles brown and then dry brushed some gold, antique gold and some copper over various areas of each tile with latex paint.

Customer Testimonial
We have been really excited about our new tiles. We actually just finished installing them this past weekend. It was so easy to work with them, and installing them was actually fun. All our friends and family have been so impressed with our new basement ceiling, and we have had many inquiries about your product and how we got it.
