We LOVE our better than tin ceiling - easily installed and absolutely gorgeous.  It's a beautiful accent, and we couldn't be happier.

Sorry it has taken me so long to write back, but it has taken us longer than expected to upgrade out basement.  I am forwarding you four pictures that I took this morning of the section of the basement where we needed the tiled ceiling.  First, the Ceilume tile has COMPLETELY transformed the look of the basement.  Everyone compliments the ceiling and when they touch it, they can't believe it's not wood!  Half of our basement has low duct work where we do not have an option other than a drop ceiling. We LOVE the tiles and they were so super easy to install!

We LOVE our new ceiling! We have received so many compliments from guests. They all think it is real tin. The best part is that no one can tell that it is a drop ceiling because the decorate strips camouflage the usually obvious metal grid. The grid just magically disappears. The product quality is outstanding and was very easy to work with.  The customer service department at Better  Than Tin is fabulous. We called a few times with questions and they were incredibly helpful and pleasant. They also followed up with us after the installation to see how everything went. That gesture is the definition of excellent customer service!

Tiles worked beautifully and transformed a dismal, ordinary room. We chose to create a coffered ceiling that is really amazing. Following up with another email to tell you how pleased I am with the way the ceilume tiles worked for me.  The tiles truly appear to be as if they were cast plaster (the effect I had hoped for) and they serve to lighten up a dark room nicely.  The coffering was a challenge with each area needing to be adapted to the vagaries of a ceiling created in the 19th century, but it was certainly worth all the measuring, leveling, and finagling we needed to do. I'll be delighted to send photographs when I have returned home.

The installed ceiling is awesome! I painted the tiles first before installation and had egg and dart molding nailed around the perimeter and over seams.

Great product!  Will keep you in mind for future projects.

We installed the first ceiling (we're doing 3 all together) and it went very well.  We adapted some installation techniques - put 5 squares of double stick foam tape on the back side of the tiles (center spot and then out about 4" in a box configuration) before putting on ceiling.  This kept the tile in place prior to stapling but also kept the centers from "sagging".  We spray painted the tiles prior to installation and then painted the strips on site.  We're quite pleased with the results - see attached photos.  Thanks for a great product.

Finished with living, dining and family room, I have the master bed room and 3 bed rooms left to do. Thanks for the follow-up!

What a transformation!!! The product was very very easy to use and very easy to cut and install. I just traced out the old tiles onto the new and took my scissors and cut to fit. The whole kitchen took me about 2 hours. I had looked into doing a tin ceiling but the cost was about 4 times as much as these tiles. That's not really cost effective for a single home owner. My realtor is a good friend of mine and thinks changing out the tiles was a great idea and a beautiful option. All my neighbors have drop ceilings as well and I'm sure will be ordering some for their houses. I have an office that I'm remodeling and need to keep the drop ceiling so I'll be placing another order shortly. Thanks again for helping me with the kitchen and giving me an option other than having the expense of dry walling my ceiling for $4000. Thanks again!

My project turned out wonderfully. I installed the medallion tiles and for the perimeter I used a textured wall paper right over the old primed drop ceiling tiles. Like I said, it looks really great. In fact, company that's never seen our ceiling before thought the ceiling was a plaster cast that was actually original to the home (we live in an older house).

I left the old existing drop ceiling tiles in place along the outside edge. Where possible, I removed metal brackets that were not part of the ceiling support structure. Then to smooth things out, I used joint compound where metal brackets of the grid touched the old tiles. This way when I put up the wall paper it would not be so obvious where I still had metal brackets. When I feathered out the joint compound between brackets and tiles to my satisfaction,  I used a high quality sealer primer (Bin 1-2-3) over all of that.

The wall paper was a heavier paper, designed to go over paneling or cracked plaster walls and hide what was beneath it. I don't remember the
brand off hand, but I bought that at Menards. For some of my seams, I had to touch things up with a little white caulk, which blended in very nicely.

If I look hard or if the lighting is just so, I can see where I have metal brackets behind the wall paper, but it really isn't too noticeable for sure. It might just appear to be a ceiling joist behind plaster to someone who doesn't know - if they can see it at all.

The tiles add a new dimension to ceiling design.
