Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've never installed ceiling tiles so easily as with these tiles, nor have I managed it on my own before. Granted, I was replacing my old tiles so I didn't have to rehang the grid. A ladder, pair of scissors, measuring tape and a marker was all I needed. I had no problems cutting the circle to affix the louver but I thought of my fabric circle cutter. I did try that - it will cut up to a 12" circle. That sliced through the tile with no problem and I will be using it to do the rest of my installation (I still have another 1500 sq ft +/- to go). I have also been impressed with the durability and strength of the tiles. They look great and gave my room a major facelift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ceiling is finished and we love it. I raise Bengal cats and the tiles were used in two kitten rooms in our basement. The rooms look great. This is only the second dropped ceiling my brother has installed and he had no trouble at all. He liked working with the Ceilume tiles over conventional tiles. We didn't lose much ceiling height due to the thinness of the tiles. My uncle and cousin used the same tiles when finishing their basements and told me about them. I'm so glad they did. On a scale from 1-5 I give them a 10! Thanks for this super product. Can't wait until the entire project is finished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We are currently waiting for a fire alarm and (2) 6 inch can lights to be installed and wired in. After that she'll be done. We love the ceiling, simple, elegant, and a truly fast and clean installation. As soon as I get it done I will send pictures of the install. We have turned 400+ square feet of basement into a master bedroom and bath that now has hotel like qualities due to the fact that the ceiling looks so great. I will however recommend to anyone that if they go with the white tiles to purchase the white grid tape to match. My order for tape will be coming in soon. We are extremely happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would rate the Ceilume tiles 5 out of 5. They arrived exactly as described and were a pleasure to install. This was a new installation utilizing Armstrong grid materials. The tiles were very easy to cut with household scissors just as described in you instructions. Truthfully, I was skeptical and expected to go buy heavy duty scissors; but there was no need. As a "do it yourself" project, you couldn't find a better solution. These tiles gave me a very classy finish while minimizing my time investment. I would recommend to anyone as replacements for existing tiles or for a new project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased a room full of Stratford white tiles and love them. I rate them a 5 on a scale of 1 to 5. A few years ago, I used them in most of my basement and I get rave reviews from everyone. Finally, I broke down and ordered them for my workshop as well. This was mostly to keep sawdust from the insulation in the ceiling and because they were so easy. In this case, I actually installed them only 3 inches from the joists which was only possible because they are flexible and easy to cut and install. I proudly show them to any visitors and brag on how easy they are and how good they luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The installation was easy and it all turned out very nice. This was a basement installation with no windows so we wanted to make the place glow....chase away the blahs. We put a lot of fluorescent fixtures above the ceiling and surrounded the translucent tiles with a row and a half of copper. We did the floor in natural maple, along with the stairwell and a built-in bookcase and painted the trim white. We have recently sold the house and when the new owner first came down the stairs after we finished, he said, "This is incredible!" I think that says it all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am very happy with the product, I am a contractor and use your tiles often, your tiles may cost my costumers $1.00 to 2.00 more per tile compared to other tiles I have used but the money I save them on the ease of your products install makes up for that and they end up with a nicer look. The only negative I can say is that I wish you made a slightly off white tile that would better match the tracks without having to use the tape, other than that great product I will be using in the future and I always recommend to my clients, I would rate the tiles a 4.5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total success! I love the new Stratford tile ceiling in my old New England home, built in 1900. When the kitchen was being renovated it became clear that a dropped ceiling was the best option - making it level, and because there was so much debris collected over the years. I really wanted to maintain the country feeling, and was on a budget. Ceilume had such a great website, and I felt good supporting a small business. The carpenters and electrician were all amazed at the product, the ease of installation and the look. I bought white cabinets and the pattern is similar to that of the tiles, so it makes a very nice combination. The kitchen is just so bright and the cosy old home character remains. Really recommend the product and the service.

will these fit in a 9/16" grid system?

Asked by: Max N
The Stratford ceiling tile (and all other Feather-Light tiles) can only be installed in a standard 15/16" grid. Copy and paste the following link into your browser to view the Ceilume ceiling tiles that can be installed in a 9/16" grid system: http://www.ceilume.com/shop/drop-ceiling-tiles/Signature/

Why is the white Stanford 2x4 tiles $1.44 and go up considerably a lot more for the different colors.  You advertise these at $1.44 and a choice of six colors. Says nothing about cost going up if you choose any color other then white.  Please explain

At Ceilume, we have a list of guiding principles and #3 reads: "Be transparent. Practice honesty... even when it's uncomfortable." We do our best to follow that principle when it comes to pricing. Our price listing is a complex one due to the amount of variables involved, but we make every effort to avoid misleading folks. At Ceilume, we offer 30 different ceiling tiles that are available in up to 15 different finishes and 2 different sizes. As you've pointed out, the cost of the white tiles is cheaper than the standard colors (sand, merlot, latte, and black). We also offer faux metallic and faux wood finishes which come in at a higher price point than the standard colors. We're faced with the task of displaying over 380 different tile choices and have done our best to present all of that information as completely and concisely as possible. Our best selling color of tiles is White; over 65% of everything we sell is white. As such, the default display color for the tiles on our website is white and the pricing we show is for the white tiles. We do offer a way to filter the display so that you can view the color of your choice, which adjusts the pricing accordingly. Here is an example of that view: 2x4 Black Ceiling Panels We're sorry if we've caused any confusion with our price listings and are constantly looking for ways to improve the information we share on our website. We'd be delighted to hear any suggestions you may have for improving our pricing format.

Will Stratford titles hold up insulation of the same size 2x4

Asked by: Donna
The Stratford ceiling panels are very thin but the "square within a square" pattern gives them quite a bit of rigidity. They can easily support 2 pieces of Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation (http://www.ceilume.com/accessories/Soniguard/) which has been made for use with Ceilume tiles.

What is the Noise reduction coefficient of the Stratford tiles? I am looking to install them using Ceiling Link grid system. According to their website they say your tiles are compatible. http://www.ceilinglink.com/

Asked by: Jared
The Ceilume Stratford ceiling tile is compatible with the Ceiling Link system and has an NRC of .25. If you need additional insulation, the most cost effective choice is rolled or batt insulation installed in between the ceiling joists prior to installing the Ceiling Link system.

can i use 2x4 panels on a 2x2 grid?

Asked by: suze
No, you can only use 2x2 panels in a 2x2 grid. Happily, the Stratford is available in both the 2x4 and 2x2 sizes. http://www.ceilume.com/tiles/Stratford/White/

What size recessed LED canned light is best or most popular w the Stratford feather weight please?

Asked by: Thenurse911
The Stratford tile has a large center section that is large enough to accommodate any size can light up through 6". Three important tips regarding can lighting: 1) Choose light fixtures that come with grid-suspension brackets so that the weight of the light is supported by your T-bar and not by your tile. 2) Use an incandescent, compact fluorescent, or led bulb in your can light for best results. Halogen bulbs are not recommended as they generate too much heat. 3) You can use scissors or straight bladed snips to cut the can light hole. You can also use an appropriately sized hole saw but be sure to run the drill in reverse; this will create a clean cut and prevent the hole saw from binding.

Are these okay for a glue up application? When cutting them for edges or around light fixtures, are they easily cut with a standard box cutter?

Asked by: Chad
The Ceilume Stratford tiles (and all of the Feather-Light tiles) can not be glued or stapled to a drywall ceiling. On the back side of each tile there is a lip around the perimeter of the tile to give them structural rigidity. That lip and the thinness of the tile make them perfect for installation in a ceiling grid. For a glue up installation, take a look at our Glue-Up tile selection. http://www.ceilume.com/shop/glue-up-ceiling-tiles/ All of those tiles have a flat back and are made of our thicker Signature material which makes them perfect for glue-up installations. The Stratford can easily be cut using a sharp pair of scissors. We don't recommend using a box cutter.
